Pnoy decide no state burial for Marcos

President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III has spoken: there will be no state honors for former president Ferdinand Marcos despite recommendations from Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Speaking before foreign correspondents, Aquino stressed rendering honors for Marcos would be "the height of injustice" for human rights victims during the martial law era.

"It would be really, I think, the height of injustice to render any honors to the person who was the direct mastermind of all their suffering," Aquino said Wednesday.
Aquino said he has yet to communicate this decision to Binay who earlier recommended military honors in lieu of a Libingan ng mga Bayani burial for Marcos.

"With regards to the Marcos burial, you know, in all honesty—and I think I will have to communicate this to the Vice President, I apologize, he’s been doing the study on my behalf; he had a recommendation--and it was recently called to my attention again, we have so many victims of the Martial Law years, who have not gotten even a recognition formally from this government, from our government and they were victims," Aquino said.
Meanwhile, Binay said he is respecting the President's decision.

"It is the prerogative of the President and we must all accept, respect and support his decision," said Binay in a separate statement.

Me Thinks...

President Aquino should have just agreed with what Vice President Binay's recommendation. Yes, Former President Marcos did a lot of things that are against our Laws and Norms so I totally agreed that he should not be buried in "Libingan ng mga Bayani" (National Heroes Cemetery). A lot of the citizen would rally about that and some of the victims during his regime would not find it right. I think he would rest in peace if he is buried in Ilocos Norte wherein his people still believes in him and loves him there. That would be alright.

But he should at least be given military honors since he is a Former President. He should be given honors and respect as a former President of our country. He may have appear as a monster to some Filipino but we should also look at the facts that during his reign he made the Philippines known throughout the world. His projects are brilliant and until now some of the bridges, building and roads are still being in use because all the materials are quite good and "hindi minadali at tinipid!"

Remember Former Defense Secretary Angelo Reyes burial issues? He was buried in Libingan ng mga Bayani and was buried with military honors. He committed suicide because of the controversy he was buried up into his neck of the rampant corruption in the AFP. He should not have been buried in that cemetery because he died with questionable honor if he is guilty or not. It just made all that act hilarious and made all our national heroes be buried with a corrupt official.

I know that with power there would be a lot of temptations and one might be corrupted and Former President Marcos succumb to that and so made a lot of things that made him so hateful. Such a pity! All that brilliance gone to waste!

I know I don't have a lot of say on this matter since I'm just a lowly citizen and all decisions on that matter rest to our President but he should have just say so at the beginning that this is his decision on Marcos burial. He only made Binay make those recommendations so that he won't be accused as biased. But then again all of this are all pure politics! But with all of this matter it also made it so showbiz!

Politicians should just have been direct to the point! State some facts! "yun wala nang paligoy ligoy pa!" Be firm on their decisions and live with it.

Happy Teacher's Day

It's the time of the year again wherein we give tributes to our teachers! Happy Teacher's Day! :)

By Presidential Proclamation No. 479  to honor more than 500,000 teachers nationwide. However, in the Philippines Teachers' Day is actually celebrated in schools between the months of September and October (mainly elementary and secondary levels). Teachers are presented with orchid corsages by students. Groups of students representing various grade levels perform short skits or song and dance numbers, or read poetry for their teachers in front of fellow schoolmates in school-wide activities. These activities are planned by senior students in the Student Council who coordinate the activities well in advance.

For Filipino-Chinese schools, a program is usually organized by students for teachers on September 27, while September 28, considered as the actual Teachers' Day, is a school holiday where both teachers and students are allowed to rest. September 28 was chosen because it is known as the birthday of famous Chinese philosopher Confucius.

Education. That's a big word in our household. My Paternal Grandmother and Grandfather are both an educator/teacher, my mother is a teacher and one of my sister is also now a teacher. :) Education, at an early age it was ingrained in us to do good in school, respect your teacher and have fun. And as a fourth child there are some expectations that I would also be as bright as my elder sisters and of course it would bring shame on the family if I failed even one subject. :)

Going to school is fun! I missed it! :) yes,  even cramming for exam! Now if we have meet ups one of the topics would be our time in school and of course which teachers you like and hate! :) Hate is such a strong word so I'd just use the word dislike. We have a teacher that we totally avoid sitting at the front because we don't want to have spit on our face, a cry baby teacher (yes, during my junior year we have a teacher that cried because some of my classmates were very unruly and noisy. She's a newbie so I guess it would be stressful for her but unlucky her we were teenagers that time so some are quite rebellious), a teacher that gives chips for a recitation and those chips would be counted as your participation in class a.k.a your recitation, boring teacher ( a teacher who would make you so sleepy), cool teacher (open notes during exam!)

Today, I am reminiscing my school days and made me wonder how my old teachers are doing now. I really appreciate them for what they did even if back then I used to hate it when they give us piles of homework to do. :)

So, today greet your teacher a happy day and just for this day, please behave! :)

Pedring

I love it when it's raining because that would mean we'll get a break from a very scourging hot weather. Storms doesn't scare me that much since our country have been visited by lots of storm every year but yesterday I was scared. Typhoon Pedring or Typhoon Nesat made a very very lasting impression on moi.

The typhoon is different from the previous storms we had. It's not like Ondoy. Pedring may not have brought with him heavy rains but with a storm that is so windy fazed me. It made me worry of flying rooftops and  yes, it did happened! Our neighbor's rooftop was blown into our backyard. It almost made me go to our neighbor's tenant and tell them that part of their rooftop was in our backyard and tell them that they have been told to put stones on top of it but they did not it hence some part of it was flown into our lawn which is very dangerous at this time! (Our neighbor's house old house was demolished because they want to build a new house. So, for the mean time they have a caretaker watching over their land. And what scares me was that there was lots of debris that will get blown when the storm hit us. And what do you know? it did happened!) What if it hit something? Like our windows or worse one of us might be hit? But I restrain myself. I don't want to be bitchy at a time wherein weather is so bad.

With the storm and all, nothing would drive you crazy with kids that are bored! :))

My nephews, are a rowdy kind :) One whine that he's so bored and nothing to do while the other wants to watch his fave show but we have no cable and Internet connection! Thank God our electricity and water was not cut! :) To make them busy they played all day with their toys. While we adults just chat and sleep! :)

Typhoon Pedring I think was just another wake up call for us to take care of our environment. We as steward  should start taking care of our environment, stop throwing garbage and start planting trees!

Shamcey may not have won the crown but she's still the winner for me

Miss Shamcey Supsup, the Filipino's bet for the Miss Universe 2011 was the 3rd runner-up winner! Congratulations, Shamcey! You made us all proud!

Some of our citizens were indignant that she should have been the winner or the 1st runner-up because she's the only one who did not need an interpreter during the Q and A. Thus, she answered the questions without having the luxury like her other contender to think a few seconds while their interpreter rely the question on their own tongue. While others think that Ms. Lea Salonga's question were asked a hundred of times already in beauty pageants. So, thought that Miss Angola's answering the question beautifully is not that tough.

We should just be happy about the result! We should stop thinking that it's not fair that we could have won the crown. Anyway it's done already and we can't really do nothing about it. Just let it go. Being a 3rd runner-up is an honor. :)

We should just be happy for Miss Angola. Her People must be jubilant about it. After she won I was curious where it is. I never heard about it. Angola is in Africa and we all know the situation in Africa. Winning the crown would boost her people's pride and maybe their economy..I think a lot of people were like me wondering where is Angola and made them curious of the people there. Congrats, Miss Angola for winning the crown! :)

Yes, the question might be a asked a thousand times but YOU were not the contestant, YOU were not the one on stage answering the question so just put a lid on it! I am satisfied with Miss Angola's answer and she did it beautifully.

Let's just be happy about the result and get over it. Miss Supsup is a winner! While waiting for the result I was happy that Miss Philippine is the only one who does not need an interpreter and that alone showed that we Filipino's are not only beautiful but also have brains. English as a second language is a feat already and answering a question without any hesitation shows that Filipino's can compete with other nationalities that use English as their primary language.

So, let's all just be satisfied with the result! :)

Break a leg Shamcey!

Just a few more hours and we'll be able to watch Miss Universe 2011. Of course, I would be rooting for Miss Philippines to win the crown! :)

When I was young I was awed with all the contestant and thought that they sure all all dolled up and so pretty and it would be really cool if you would reign all over your competitors :) 

It's a professional brawl over beauty and brains and if you win hurrah for you and your country :)

Philippines have always been well represented and it sure bring such pride when you watch our own contestant strutting and answering questions with wit. What a major major goal for our country if we win the crown this year.

But what does it really mean for us if we do win? why watch it? we won't get anything from it or get paid. What really made me watch this pageant are:

1. cheer for our own

2. love to know/watch Q and A

3. I heard Lea Salonga is one of the Judges and I love her! I'm a fan!

but above all else just watch it.. and feel our Filipino Pride :) Let's just support our own. If we win then it would bring an honor for our country, it would boost our tourism and it would make people more curious in our country. And if we don't win it, it's ok! Having our own contestant there is enough and it's an honor already for being one of the contestant. 

To Miss Shamcey Supsup, Good luck! Hope you win tomorrow! :)

Happy Being Single

I am comfortable of being single at the moment but weeks ago it made me think hard and ponder on things. It's all thanks to my younger sis! aggh!

Things that made me question my stat:

1. Was asked if I'm still carrying a torch for Mr. Ex? I'm so over him. It was eons years ago! Hello! OK. I can still -- think/s all the lovely things he did but I have trouble picturing his image on my mind.OK I admit that every time that I have suitors I would compare them to him [Hoping that he would go to the wet market for me -->> wet market totally gross me out. Have to scrub my feet because of the yucky goo I got from trekking from the aisles of buying wares from going to and fro stall to stall. He would be God fearing, the sweetest BF you have that would give you things you want and of course is totally deeply in love with moi].

2. I don't know what to feel that when I posted on my FB account my shout out was "I'm so happy today!" my sister and friends have a common comments on my stat that they are happy for me, Is it a new love life?, Do I have a boyfriend?

I don't know why people would assume that a MAN or having a BOYFRIEND would make me happy. Happiness does not revolve on just being in a relationship. I would love to have one but I still am looking for my other half.

I was happy because I have news that I'm going to have my own laptop this coming December! Yay! Typing on my old PC makes me so frustrated (so slow!) I know my fellow blogger would also be happy if they are in my shoes. Having your own laptop and not borrowing would be PURE BLISS! :)

3. Getting questions on when will I settle down? Every time I go home to our hometown old peepz would ask me when will I marry? There are some perks in growing up in a small hometown, you know everybody and know you won't be rob blindly at night BUT the downside of it is that -- Everybody also knows your business and tend to be a tad curious on what you are up to.

Did Mr. Right passed me by and I wasn't aware?

Maybe Mr. Right have knocked on my door but it's his loss! hahaha. I am not afraid if I'll be a spinster! It's OK. If I am fated to be one then so be it! No hard feelings :)

Stat: Complicated

OK. If I have to put a label on my stat on my current relationship now is that it is complicated! Well, He's abroad and I am not that too hopeful to have that kind of a relationship. Long distance relationship does not work! (that's what happened on my last rel) so I don't want to gamble and I am just a simple person that just go with the flow :)

I like him but that's just it! LIKE not LOVE. I want to fall in love. I'm a hopeless romantic! So, MR. X, If you're reading this you've got to stick to your guns and woo me! You must be doing it right because I like you..really really like you :)

Gramp's and Granny's Day!

Today is Grandparents Day! For all the Gramps and Granny's out there, I am sending you my greetings: Happy Grandparents Day!

Gawd! I suddenly miss my Grandma (Maternal side). Inay,as we fondly call her passed away two years ago. Until now I still miss her. Part of me was glad that she's finally at peace and with God but half of my heart have not yet accepted her death..It's still too darn early! She should have been there when I walk down the aisle and have kids of my own. Goodbye is really the saddest word I'd ever hear/say specially someone close to you. I know that we only have borrowed time here in this earth and we all die but then again I really really miss her. She was the one who took care of me when Mama and Papa goes to work and even though I am not her fave grandchild I love her.

So, Inay, wherever you are. I love you and Happy Grandparents Day!
