Miley Cyrus in Manila

At long last Miley is here!  :) I am really really hoping that my friend will be able to give me some tickets for her concert tonight! I only have a few more hours left!! :)

Miley Cyrus arrived in Manila, Philippines late Wednesday night, June 16, 2011. And at around noon of that day (even though she only have 2 hrs of sleep!), Miley Cyrus visited the Philippines number 1 noontime show, Eat Bulaga! (the Philippines' longest-running noontime show), to promote her one-night only Manila gig entitled, Gypsy Heart World Tour (Corazon Gitano Tour), which will be held on June 17, 2011 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.

 Miley in Eat Bulaga

Later in the afternoon, she met some Philippine entertainment press for some Q&A at the Martini’s Bar of the Manila Mandarin Oriental Hotel. In the presscon, Miley Cyrus revealed that his brother, Trace Cyrus, member of the band, Metro Station, has been in the Philippines already (and also performed at the same ground she is going to performed tonight). Manila, Philippines is the ONLY country in Asia, this time, that is included in her latest World Tour.

Miley will then proceed to Australia afterwards, to do more shows.

"Ganito kami sa Makati"

MAKATI CITY, Philippines - Don't be surprised if traffic enforcers who flag you down in Makati City will speak to you in fluent English.

Some of city's traffic enforcers will study at renowned modeling and charm development school John Robert Powers International to improve their personality and English-language speaking skills, the city government said on Wednesday.

Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr. said 30 traffic officers from the Makati Department of Public Safety will attend a 2-day "self-management" workshop at a John Robert Powers' branch in the city on Thursday and Friday.

Binay, in a press statement, said the program is part of the city government's efforts to train civil servants who can deliver world-class public service.

Makati traffic enforcers' training program under John Robert Powers started in 2004.

"We believe it is wise to invest in developing credible and respectable civil servants, including traffic officers, who can carry themselves with dignity and perform their duties with utmost professionalism even in difficult situations," Binay said.

He added that the program strengthens Makati's bid to become a major tourist destination in Asia.

"With proper training, our front line workers will be better able to interact with local and foreign tourists and exemplify genuine Filipino hospitality, a trait admired by peoples around the world," he said.

During the workshop, the traffic enforcers will learn how to improve their image, as well as their interpersonal and communication skills, according to the city government.

They will then be asked to share what they have learned with their colleagues.

"For this training, we have chosen 30 traffic officers currently assigned to critical areas, including the Central Business District, frequented by foreign diplomats, investors, business executives, and tourists," city government human resources chief Vissia Marie Aldon said. - with a report from Henry Atuelan, dzMM

My POV

We don't need English speaking traffic enforcer at all. What we need is to have traffic enforcers who have MORALS! :)

Everybody in the PHI know how to speak English (some may have barok English but a foreigner can still understand what he/she may say or respond to his questions).

It may be just a thing to promote the city to the tourist BUT we already know the language, But if he needs fluent English speakers he must just hire (have higher pay of course) to those who have graduated in college. This way unemployment in the city would decrease :)

and for your information peeps, they bragged that they gave Laptops to their teachers teaching in Makati. So not totally true! The teachers got it as a loan. They have HP Laptops and they have to pay for it for 2years (bawas ata sa sweldo nila or sa allowance. basta ganun.) But if you total the whole amount I think they offered it more cheaper than the prices being offered in a computer shop. SO It was not FREE. It was just a LOAN. :) Free means you don't have to pay anything right?

OFW with no pay jumps off NAIA-3 ledge

An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Taiwan jumped off the departure area at the second floor of the  Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Wednesday afternoon. According to the report, NAIA Terminal 3 manager Octavio Lina, the OFW identified as Philip Bryan Siman  was still able to hold on to the ledge for a second but was unable to support his weight and fell some 10 meters on the arrival area below.

Siman arrived from Taiwan on Tuesday night and was supposed to board a Cebu Pacific flight to Iloilo when the incident happened. Based on the information gathered by MIAA doctors,  Siman had issues with his employer, who sent him home without pay.

Relatives of Siman said they were also surprised by his untimely arrival. From what they know, Siman had a 2-year contract with his employer, an operator of a fishing vessel in Taiwan. He was only able to work 9 months, they added. They noted that he was acting weird because he kept repeating that somebody was running after him. They have also been trying to contact Siman's employer in order to get his paycheck and find out what happened in Taiwan.

MY POV

My condolences to Siman's Family! :(

I really pity the plight of our OFW's, they would give all they have to their work (leaving their family and some would even work eventhough what they studied was way different from the position they are working for e.g Nurse working as caregiver, Teacher working as factory workers etc. ) and it was in the news that unemployment in the PHI was getting less and less! What a lot of bull! And there are lots of OFW's going home with no pay and have no work available for them when they return home! Where do the statistic coming from? From neverland?!

Our President Promised "Pagbabago" (new government, abolishing corrupt government), but where are those empty promises now? Yes, Congratulation! You seems to be a frugal President (it was in the news that they spent less from what they estimated for the month of April or is it May?) That's good! atleast you're proving that you're not like OTHER former President's that would spend our taxes with lavish dinner/lunch "business" or "cabinet meetings" with their subordinates. That's fine. Yes, you're STILL new, you still need time (as what someone said to defend you) As you said, you will not tolerate corrupt officials, but what about your Friend in LTO that has some issues? You're friends must not have lose any sleep knowing that you won't be comfortable to fire them (because you are their buddy). If someone has some scandal/issue they must be suspended! Have a firm grip on your subordinates! To stop corruption if there's even a hint that they are involved in some shady issues!

Mr. President, Please Open your eyes and ears, Yes there must have been a decrease in unemployment but that's only a small percentage (it must have been 0.01%!!). If there are more job openings here maybe our kababayan's would not opt for a greener pasture! They would be happy being here. Who would not be? All our family and friends are here.

Watching/reading a news like this is to sad for me! Let us pray for the repose of the soul of  Philip Bryan Siman :(

kakanin from the North

Papa had some pasalubong for us from his visit on his hometown in Santa, Ilocos Sur.

I like the balicucha! It's so sweet! I was hesitant at first to taste it! I thought it would be too HARD to bite it! But it was not! After you took a bite you just can't help but to gobbled it down! and have some more..and more! It made me remember my growing up years when I have to go to the kitchen and look for the calamay where our grandma hid it, and then I'll take a little bite and another little bite again! It's so sweet! We were not usually given a chocolate or ice cream (oh, yeah!  I feel so deprive! But I think NOW my parents did great bringing us up. If they were to give us sweet everyday, then we don't have anything to look forward to when will be the next time that we'll have to eat lots of chocolates and sweets for dessert)  :)
It's just strange that I think the one that we had on bikol, the balicucha is colored brown, but the taste is the same. Next time when I go Home I'll take some pics to compare the two!

Playboy Founder Got Jilted

Hugh Hefner was left at the altar because his 25-year-old fiancee Crystal Harris wanted two things -- a bigger allowance and a career in the music biz.

Playboy founder Hugh Hefner said on Tuesday his wedding this weekend has been canceled because his 25-year-old fiance, a Playmate from his magazine, changed her mind.
Hefner, 85, and Crystal Harris were due to tie the knot in front of more than 300 guests at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles on Saturday. It would have been Hefner's third marriage.
Sources involved in planning the massive wedding say Crystal felt like she "couldn't be married to Hef and have a successful music career" -- even though millions and millions of people are married with careers ... and with MUCH less money.

My POV

> He must have given her a prenup and she does not want to sign it. Who on their right mind would marry an Old guy? She's only after his wealth! And on Hef's side, he only needs someone he can have as a trophy wife. No real Love between them. If there's no money involve one would really think that they are, But in their world everything is plastic :)

What were you thinking Mr. Senador?

I was shocked last night when I watched the news on TV Patrol and GMA NEWS what a certain guy would do to a poor puppy when he was bored!

Mr. Jerzon senador, Calamba, Laguna resident, posted some pics on his FB account on his album Bagung Ligo si 'PUPPY' on June 12 Independence Day. But unfortunately the puppy does not enjoy freedom because he is pinned to a clothesline and hanging out to dry! After posting the pics, the album was met with disgust by at least a couple of other Facebook users.

There was even a Facebook page "Report, Jerzon Senador the Animal Abuser" was created "to raise awareness regarding Animal Cruelty."

Despite negative comments, Senador was unapologetic, saying "hahaha,..winashing k p nga yan weh..." and "Hahaha, hnd ako makukulong noh..remember senador toh! aquh ng pa2pad ng Animal cruelty at kya kong bawiin yun!! ahahahaha."

Jerzon Apologizes

Senador has since apologized via his own Facebook wall, saying "To All Animal Lover and to all over the world please read this:

“Gusto ko humingi ng tawad sa nagawa kong kasalanan sa aking alagang aso.. Sana mapatawad nyo ako at pinapangako ko na hindi na mauulit…"

Meanwhile, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) was grateful. "Thank you to everyone who posted about Jerzon Senador, the guy who hung his puppy on a clothesline and posted it on his facebook. We'll keep you posted," was PAWS' status message on Tuesday morning. GMA News Online is still trying to contact PAWS and Senador as this posting.

MY POINT OF VIEW

I was indignant when I saw the pics, who would not be? It might be funny to HIM but it was really stupid of him to do that! He was bored so he did it??? BUT he could have done a more productive work when he is bored! (being bored is no excuse to do that to an innocent puppy) And he was even proud of washing the puppy in the washing machine! What a psycho! Animals have feelings too! I think we should treat our pets as part of a family, and one should not do things that would hurt them.

MOMMY D's BaG

I missed the news last night! Finally, Mommy Dionisia showed her birthday gift that she wished for from her son, PACMAN. The Filipino boxing icon and his wife Jinkee, gave her an orange Hermès luxury designer bag that reportedly costs a whopping P1 million.

Mommy Dionisia, as she is popularly called, initially opted to keep the bag hidden from public.
But in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN’s “TV Patrol” main anchor Korina Sanchez, the Pacmom finally showed to the public the luxury designer bag.

President Erap (one of her 700 guest on her grand and lavish 62nd birthday in General Santos City in May) also gave her an orange  Hermès scarf (The prices of Hermès scarves range from $300 to $800 or around P13,500 to P36,000).

Maybe she likes the color Orange THIS year??? (I thought her fave color is purple?)

There were some bashers in the social networking when she was interviewed and was asked what does she want for her birthday and she answered to have that luxury bag. Some said that during this time she should just reach out a hand for those who needs some financial help than having that kind of bag and bluntly showing it off to the poor citizens here in the PHI. Some even said that if she have that bag it does not give the bag justice, some said that she should buy an imitation bag in divisoria because her friends in the province won't be able to tell the difference between the imitation bag from the real bag.

I think that it's her right on whatever she wants to have since its their money. If they want to spend it in such expensive bag, we have no say on that matter. PACMAN risk his face for that bag! He was the one fighting on that match and not US so just let them be. Let's leave them alone. It's their life.

Whenever there's some news on Mommy D, I have to watch the news, I don't know but even with all the glitter and money, she still talk the same and just say whatever on her mind. But I think that the next time that she received an expensive gift from her son and daughter in law. She should not talk about it and be a news and be known to the whole citizen. She should just keep it in private since majority of the citizen are in financial crisis and such blatant luxury being shown would received negative criticisms.

Mommy D, I hope you live long, I am just hoping that you should also reach out for the people in your district that needs some financial aid :)

How to deal with Bashers

It must be hard being a celebrity! All your moves would make the news and your privacy would be invaded. But what's your privacy if you have the fame and fortune that a lot of people are craving for? But even if you're famous and have lots of adoring fans there are also some people that hates some celebrity. Here's some celebrity on how they deal with their haters:

1. Charice - deleted her FB account and blasts her critics on twitter. "To all you great people saying great stuff in front of me, backstabbers, good luck. :) Have a mentos! The fresh maker!! boo :P"

When asked by one of her followers, amirzmusic, why bother with the harsh comments when one cannot please everybody, Charice responded: "@amirzmusic I care because they WERE chasters. :) Of course I care. But now that I found out about it.. Will forget about it."

I think she received a lot of criticisms when she performed on Glee's season Finale Episode where she sang an original song and was praised for her performance BUT her apparent weight gain was also mentioned (on the same sentence).

I think she's still young and must have been hurt (weight issues cut deep :-) )but she must just let go all those negative things being said and just

2. KC Concepcion - "Siguro totoo na hindi lahat ay mamahalin ka, pero okay lang yun. Merong lovers, merong haters. May mga bashers, may mga fans," KC said in an interview in Entertainment Live (E-Live) last Saturday, June 11, in response to the message she tweeted regarding her fans and critics.

I really like KC, she seems nice! And her response is so positive! :)
